Jana zaeh
Research Assistant. Funded by CRUK Programme Foundation Award
Originally from a small town near Stuttgart, Germany, Jana began her academic journey studying Biochemistry at the University of Ulm, graduating in the top 10% of her class (2021). She then moved on to the Technical University of Munich for her Masters in Biochemistry. She has carried out research projects at the University of Cambridge, Helmholtz Munich, and the Max Planck Society, where she was involved in both basic science and translational research. During her research stay in Cambridge (2023), she applied CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing to cancer biology. For her Master's thesis, Jana deciphered the protein interactome of a chaperone machinery in stem cells using proximity labelling and mass spectrometry, establishing a novel workflow for her lab (2024).
Jana currently works as a Research Assistant in Daniel's lab at the Early Cancer Institute, investigating the interplay between cellular senescence and innate immune signalling in lung cancer. In this role, she works closely with Jianfeng. Outside of the lab, Jana is a BioSpark Fellow at AstraZeneca and a committee member of Cambridge Gravity and the Cambridge University German Society. Furthermore, during her undergraduate studies, she co-led and founded an iGEM team, volunteered as a tutor for a children's charity, and competed in the German Golf League.
